Competition for cartoons and caricatures STUTTGART AWARD

Stuttgart and football – these two words go together. The sports-mad city can boast a long football tradition. Six matches will be staged in the football city of Stuttgart in summer 2006 during the 2006 FIFA World Cup™.

To mark this occasion, Stuttgart-Marketing GmbH, the official tourism partner of the state capital of Baden-Württemberg, is holding a competition – the STUTTGART AWARD 2006 for cartoons and caricatures themed FASCINATION FOOTBALL – for the first time.
The Prizes:
1st prize: € 5.000.-
2nd prize: € 3.000.-
3rd prize: € 2.000.-

The best entries will be displayed in a representative exhibition and in the internet.

Competition Regulations

1. The name of this contest is STUTTGART AWARD.The theme is “Fascination Football”.
2. The contest is open to professional as well as semi-professional cartoonists and caricaturists.
3. The deadline for receipt of works of art is May 15, 2006.
4. Selected pieces of work will be presented in an exhibition.
5. The maximum size of artwork is to be 297 x 420 mm. The minimum size is to be 210 x 297 mm.Artwork is to be submitted unframed and unmounted.
6 The maximum number of entries is to be up to three cartoons and up to three caricatures.
7. Cartoons and caricatures in colour or black and white shall be accepted.
8. Word cartoons and word caricatures may be produced in any language. However, a translation in English or German shall also be enclosed.
9. The name, home address (and e-mail address), telephone number and bank details of the artist is to be stated on the back of each cartoon. A short biography of the artist and a photograph (or self-caricature) shall be attached.
10. The artwork must be the original work of the artist. Artwork that is deemed by the jury to be the same or closely similar to that known to be the work of another artist will not be judged.
11. Original works and digital artwork will be accepted. Digital artwork is to be numbered in pencil on the front and pencil signed. Non-digital artwork is to be provided initially as color photocopies which will not be returned. Artists of selected works will be asked to provide original artwork.
12. Original artwork will be returned to the artists at the organizers expense.
13. A catalogue will be published and one free copy will be supplied to each artist whose work has been selected for exhibition.

1st prize: € 5.000
2nd prize: € 3.000
3rd prize: € 2.000
The jury shall be entitled to award non-cash prizes to other entries. The prize-money shall be transferred to the stipulated bank accounts of the prize-winners.
15. The organizers have the non-exclusive rights to use works that have been selected for exhibition to advertise the next edition of the contest, without payment to the artist. The organizers of the contest claim no other rights to the use of selected cartoons. Donation transfer of ownership of actual paper artwork to the organizers does not signify unconditional transfer of copyrights - these are retained, unless otherwise specifically agreed, by the artist.
16. The organizers claim no rights for the use of non-selected works.
17. The organizers will be liable for the safe keeping of selected original art work whilst in their possession.
