THE 39TH ANNUAL ROBERT F. KENNEDY JOURNALISM AWARDS
FOR OUTSTANDING COVERAGE OF THE PROBLEMS OF THE DISADVANTAGED

Rules for Entry
Entries may include accounts of the lifestyles, challenges and potentials of the disadvantaged in the United States and around the world: insights into the causes, conditions and remedies of their plight, and the critical analyses of public policies, programs, attitudes and private endeavors relevant to their lives.

Awards Categories and Prizes:
Professional: Awards may be given in five categories: print (newspaper or magazine), editorial cartoon, television broadcast, radio broadcast, and photography. Journalists will be honored for both domestic and international subject matter in each category.
A cash prize of $1000 will be awarded to the entry judged most outstanding in each category. At the discretion of the awards committee, a grand prize of $2000 may be awarded to the most outstanding of the six category winners. Prizes will be announced in the Spring of 2007, and winners will be invited to attend an awards ceremony in Washington, DC.
Following the contest, all winning entries will be sent to the John F. Kennedy Library in Boston to be placed in the Robert F. Kennedy Archive.

Individual Requirements:
Cartoon:
One copy of each cartoon is required. Cartoons may be submitted as a body of work. Photocopies are acceptable and must be mounted in a three ring binder with an entry blank attached to each item. Please limit portfolios to a maximum of 15 cartoons. Tearsheets of the published cartoons must accompany each entry. (Please, no single cartoon entries.)

Entry Fee: A fee of $50 per entry is required for professional categories. Make checks payable to the Robert F. Kennedy Memorial, Tax ID # 132522784. Please include the name of the entry on your check.

A copy of the official entry form must accompany each entry; the form may be photocopied. Entry form:

Internet entries will be accepted in any of the above categories. Entries must include both a hard copy of the article and a copy of the web layout as it appeared. This should include the name of the publication, the publication date, the journalist’s name and the article itself. URL’s should be available for judges’ viewing at the time of selection, January to May, 2007.
The entry fee is waived for student journalists.

Eligibility Requirements:
• Entries may be submitted either by individuals or by news organizations.
• Entries must have been published or broadcast in the United States for the first time in 2006.
• Entries must be received no later than January 19, 2007.

Late Entries will not be accepted.
