THE 28TH YOMIURI INTERNATIONAL CARTOON CONTEST

The Yomiuri Shimbun is seeking entries from professionals and amateurs of all ages and nationalities for the 28th Yomiuri International Cartoon Contest.

The deadline is Sept. 22.

The contest's General Division comprises the Theme Section and the Free Section. Contestants may enter both sections.
The subject for this year's Theme Section is "Trouble."

The world is full of troubling issues, from the great, such as environmental crises, to the small, such as bothersome neighbors. But sometimes people take pleasure in others' problems, though we cannot talk about it too loudly. Surely everybody has found humorous what may be to another person something very serious.

Before people think it is a bit improper to ask others to mock people's problems, remember that predicament and worry also have inspired imaginations and been a driving force for much creativity.

Why not try your hand at joining our "Olympics of laughter"?
The contest also includes a Junior Division, subdivided into international and domestic categories, and open to anyone aged 15 or younger. Entries in this division may be on any theme.
Up to three entries may be accepted per participant. Entries exceeding the upper limit will be excluded from selection.
