9th Caratinga International Comedy Exhibition - 2007
1 - Dates:
The 9th Caratinga International Saloon of Humor will take place according to the following schedule:
Registration period: up to September 15th 2007
Opening: September 25th 2007.
2 - Participation:
All cartoonists, professional or not, are allowed to submit original works on humor that have never been awarded in other saloons, up to the opening of this saloon (September 25th 2007).
Each author will be able to submit the top of 3 works in each category. All kinds of works developed under any technique will be accepted, except those ones developed by computer.
3 - Categories:
Cartoon, Comical Cartoon, Caricature: Theme: Free.
Format: A3 (297 x 420mm) without frames.
Definition of the categories:
Cartoon: Graphic joke displaying universal and timeless themes.
Comical cartoon: Graphic representation of a journalistic theme about a current topic.
Caricature: Graphic recognizable deformation of a celebrity.
4 - Prizes.
8 (eight) prizes correspoding to the amount of R$ 10.000,00 will be divided as follows:
a) Three first place prizes. R$2.000,00 for each one divided among the categories.
b) Three second place prizes. R$ 1.000,00 divided among the categories.
The prizes in cash will be paid by the Caratinga's City Hall.
Five honorable mentions will be delivered by the judges to each category.
Note: The jury is allowed not to award any work in any category that does not have achieved a high level of quality expected for each category and are allowed to transfer that prize to other category or still, create a special prize for the saloon. There will be two comissions: one to select the works (it will consist of professionals in the field) and other to award them.
If under any circunstance, the jury realizes that there is a possible fraud or copy concerning to one or more works submitted to the saloon, it is authorized to cancel the given prize.
The awarded works will be displayed on the website of the saloon as soon after its opening and possible complainings may be done up to one week after the moment mentioned above.
Other prizes and honorable mentions may come to be according to decision of the organizing committee.

The mailing date will be taken into consideration.
Attention: The works will be returned within one year after the ending of the saloon (November 30th 2007) to the authors that sent them inside a stamped envelope.
Besides sending the entry form the competitors must write the following information on the back of each work:
Category, full name of the author, pseudonym, full address, telephone, e-mail, Id and bank information. The competitor may also send a résumé and picture to be part of the data base of the saloon.
After registration, the authors automatically transfer the copyright of their winning works according to the law number 9.610, February 19th 1988 (copyright law).
The winning works will be part of the Acervo Cultural de Pesquisa e Divulgacao do Humor Grafico Nacional of the Associacao Estacao Cultural de Caratinga (in english something like Cultural collection of publication and research on the national graphic humor of the Caratinga's cultural station association).
The registration implies the acceptance of the rules.
