The 29th Yomiuri International Cartoon Contest

The Yomiuri Shimbun is seeking entries for the 29th Yomiuri International Cartoon Contest.

The theme for the contest is "Teeth", with the competition open to people from all backgrounds, ages and levels of experience. The theme may leave many people unsure about what to draw due to the seemingly unusual subject.
Teeth are necessary parts of the body for survival and people's mouths can convey their feelings as eloquently as their eyes. Eyes also can show lies and pretense, but the mouth is more honest, clearly expressing people's feelings and thoughts.
Teeth are hard and sharp, and sometimes can work as a weapon. But such strengths can be easily lost without proper care. Perhaps such strength and fragility of teeth can be used as a metaphor for contemporary society. The theme may be a challenging one.

Submissions must be received no later than Sept. 21. Prizewinners will be announced in late December.
