More and more humour cartoons and editorial cartoons
exhibitions are organized all over the world and it’s a good
thing because it proves that a large public is interested in
cartoon. However, many exhibitions promoters or contests
organizers demand original cartoons and afterwards, they
don’t return them to the artists. On the other hand, that is
not a good thing at all. Actually, we could think that some
people or some organizations collect cheaply in this way
the artworks of the participants.
In FECO, we think that, due to modern printing techniques,
sending good quality copies is the best choice.
Nowadays, many cartoonists create and send theirs works
by computer. For this reason, the concept of « original
work » is turning obsolete. Therefore, digitizing the works
and sending them by Internet seems to be the best way
to make life easier for everyone and in the same time to
assure a high level service for the two parts. Furthermore,
cartoons insurance and resending costs will be avoided
and the problems with lost cartoons will be over. Everybody
will take advantage of that, specially the cartoonists,
who won’t have to claim their copyrights to the organizers
anymore.
