Results of the Maya Kamath Memorial Awards Competition-2012 Sonuçlar

We received 122 entries for the MKMA Competition for Excellence in Political Cartooning - 2012 and 37 entries for the MKMA Best Budding Cartoonist – 2012 competition. Surprisingly, this year we received 20 entries from foreign countries which only goes to show the increased popularity of the MKMA Competition. As a special case, the jury recommended giving separate prizes for contributors in this category.
The prizes will be given away at a function to be held in Bangalore on 8th June 2013.

2nd prize - Rs.15,000:Mr. Uday Vitla, Bangalore Waves, Mangalore
3rd prize - Rs.5,000:Mr. Ramadhyani, Hosa Digantha, Shimoga
Special Jury appreciation prizes of Rs. 2,500 each to:Mr. Raghupathy, Bangalore, Mr. Chari, New Delhi

Foreign Contributions: 1st prize - Rs.10,000 Mr. Julian PENA-PAI, Romania

Certificates of Merit to: Mr. Valentin Georgiev - Bulgaria, Mr. Arsen Gevorgyan - Republic of Armenia

MKM Award for Best Budding Cartoonist – 2012: Best Budding Award - Rs.10,000 Mr. Kapil Gholap, Pune [25 years]
Special Jury Appreciation prize - Rs.5,000 Mr. Ahan Tulshan, Mumbai [14 years]
Opinion of the Jury:The jury consisting of Messrs. S.G. Vasudeva, B.G. Gujjarappa and Girish Karnad met on 28th March 2013 and selected the award winning entries. The quality of the cartoons was very good. Many of the foreign contributions opened up the state of cartooning in those countries. This section was a welcome addition to the competition.
